My background as a graphic designer and my passion for drawing, particularly life drawing, has influenced the way I explore composition and mark making. I often experiment with texture, applying gesso, fabric and found objects to the canvas or board.

I’m fascinated with the interplay of light and shadow and its effect on colour. At the moment I seem to be reducing my palette considerably, tending towards the monochrome.

I love painting ‘en plein air’ and my aim is to evoke in the viewer that same feeling of serenity and beauty of the ordinary, that I experience while painting it.
