Go shoppingCeramic – Urchin Form with Blue/Brown Glaze & Kintsugi
R5,500.00
Catherine is constantly inspired by the natural forms she sees all around her – seed pods, succulents, Fynbos flowers, cacti and sea urchins, these are the sources for much of her creativity. By combining her skills at sculptural work and the use of multiple glazes, Catherine reinterprets natural forms to create beautiful ceramic art pieces.
Kintsugi (“golden joinery”), also known as kintsukuroi (“golden repair”), is the Japanese art of correcting flaws in ceramic works by ‘mending’ the areas of breakage with powdered gold, silver or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
