The original of this painting was a commission from dear friends – Jim and Nancy of Washington State, in the US. Jim and Nancy are fanatical Africa addicts and come on safari every year. Nancy took the photograph in the Serengeti (with her cellphone!) that provided the reference for this painting. She loved that the cheetah was partially obscured in the long grass, rather than the more classic ‘cheetah on an anthill’ pose.
