Leopards are always incredibly exciting to see in the bush. They can be shy and elusive but now and then you can come across one that is more tolerant of intrusion into their secretive world. This drawing of a young female leopard is from a photograph I took in the southern section of the Kruger National Park. It was early morning and she was lying on a rocky outcrop, enjoying the warmth of the rising sun. Draped across the branches of a tree nearby was the half eaten carcass of an impala. Clearly she had had a successful hunt the evening before. Her full belly probably explained her calm and relaxed attitude.
