This disused railway track linked the towns of Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp in the dry Karoo.

Interest in the Black & White medium has, for the last decade or so, enjoyed an unprecedented resurgence, particularly in fine art and décor circles. My black and white odyssey began some 55 years ago and this early interest in photography would eventually result in a life-long passion. Black and white was the accepted medium of the time as colour photography was extremely expensive and not as accessible. Stripped of the influence of colour, the Black & White image has to be pre-visualised in terms of shape, form, contrast and shades of black, grey and white.

In my Black & White work I adopt an interpretative approach and attempt to create images that are bold and full of contrast.

This image is signed, printed on 190 gsm fine art archival paper and is ready to frame. A signed certificate accompanies the print. The print is an open edition.
