(ac) PURPLE CRESTED TURACO – AN ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR

R6,500.00

Purple Crested Turacos are bulky, iridescent birds clad in deep purple, blue, green, and olive washed with pink. They clamber acrobatically through riverine woodland and savanna thickets and suddenly explode from the canopy, a vibrant burst of deep red flashing from the panels in their wings. Their call is a distinctive, harsh croaking “khoh-khoh-khoh-kho” that gets progressively louder before suddenly stopping.

Purple-crested turacos are primarily fruit eaters and are important disperses of seeds. They usually occur singly or in pairs, occasionally in larger groups, they are not particularly shy but can be difficult to spot in the dark tree canopy.
